North Carolina town gives green light to zoning change for biofuels production

In North Carolina, the town of Navassa has put forward a proposal to allow biofuel production in heavy industrial areas and conditionally in light industrial areas. An algae-to-methane project is interested in siting a facility in the town, prompting the change to the zoning ordinance, but strict controls on smokestacks, industrial appearance and other aspects of the project will be maintained to ensure only clean industry settles in the area.
