Alberta canola growers want government to support more biodiesel use

In Canada, the Alberta Canola Growers Association wants the new provincial government to boost the biodiesel blend to 5% by 2020, up from 2%, extend the bioenergy producer credit beyond its expected expiry in March 2016 while also boosting its biomass production targets. That’s all on top of stricter GHG emissions reductions targets. The association says that the political parties all talked about climate change and reducing GHGs during the campaign so the government now needs to put its money where its mouth is.
