CARBIO’s biodiesel exports sink 57% while Argentine ethanol seeks higher blend

May 4, 2015 |

In Argentina, CARBIO members’ biodiesel exports fell 57% during Q1 at just 90,587 metric tons due to falling energy prices globally and the related spread with soy oil known as the BO-GO factor.

In ethanol, the country’s producers are trying to push the government to boost the national blend to 12% from the current 10% to increase domestic demand for sugarcane-based ethanol. Currently the market is dominated by corn-based ethanol.
