Health companies team up to reduce bacteria contaminations in fermentation process

May 14, 2015 |

In Ohio, Elanco Animal Health, in partnership with HealthPro Brands, has created a new all-natural product that can be used to combat large bacteria contaminations that harm the alcoholic fermentation process. This new product is called “Natrucan” and will be launched in Brazil in May. Natrucan has shown similar antibacterial efficacy as Elanco’s main product in this field, the antibiotic Kamoran, which has consistently proven to control bacteria during the fermentation process. Furthermore, Natrucan does not affect the metabolism of yeast and leaves no residue in the manufacture of dry yeast and its derivatives. Therefore this new all-natural product is positioned to sell to ethanol producers who, in addition to producing alcohol, intend to sell the yeast to the food industry as a by-product.
