Indian Railways buying biodiesel for blending at 11 cent discount to diesel

In India, Indian Railways will now start blending up to 5% biodiesel for use in its diesel locomotives at its Hyderabad depot. The state-owned company is sourcing biodiesel at about an 11 cent per liter discount to diesel. It is also lowering its energy costs and looking to solar power for its electric engines, allowing an increase of up to 8% more traffic this year without spending more on power.
