Swedish rail operator gets EU funding to trial switching to biodiesel

In Sweden, Inlandsbanan AB has received funding from the European Commission to trail rapeseed-based biodiesel in its trains with the aim of converting 100% of its engines to run on RME by 2020. The move will allow it to reduce its GHG emissions by 60% while avoiding the cost of electrifying its entire 1200km rail system.
