Thailand to use 1.4 million tons of rotten rice to produce ethanol

July 2, 2015 |

In Thailand, seven ethanol plants have the capacity to use deteriorated rice as feedstock and are likely to be brought into the government’s plan to use up to 1.4 million metric tons for ethanol production. The process should take about four months and will help to offset the lack of available cassava for feedstock. The rest of the nearly 6 million tons of deteriorated rice held in government stores will be turned into biochar.
