EU rejects Indonesia’s formal request for WTO dispute panel

July 23, 2015 |

In Indonesia, the government has formally requested a dispute panel against the European Union at the World Trade Organization for what it sees are unfair anti-dumping tariffs lobbed on Indonesian biodiesel. The EU rejected the request, which is within its right, but should Indonesia ask again then the panel will automatically be formed. The key to the dispute appears to be the cost adjustment methodology used by the EU during the dumping investigation. A report from Argentina’s dispute panel against the EU over biodiesel duties is expected the end of the year.
