UNICA says could supply 2 billion gallons of ethanol under RFS

August 3, 2015 |

In Washington, UNICA has submitted comments to the EPA urging it to boost the advanced biofuel quota for 2014, 2015 and 2016, arguing that more than enough Brazilian ethanol exports are available under the right economic conditions to supply the US market. Brazilian mills will invest more than $3.5 billion through 2017 on new ethanol production and transportation infrastructure while 2015-16 ethanol production is expected to reach 7.8 billion gallons. More than 2 billion of those gallons could supply the US market if the EPA had the demand in place.
