UK releases new diesel standard to help avoid breakdowns during winter

August 5, 2015 |

In the UK, the government has released new specifications for diesel that are meant to avoid the car engine breakdowns experienced in northern England and Scotland during the last two winters. Expectations are that the problems were caused due to a mixture of used cooking oil-based biodiesel and diesel coming from certain origins such as Russia. The new filter blocking tendency limit of 2.52 will be applied from Nov. 1 through March 15, 2016and then reviewed.
