In Washington, the Energy Information Agency remains positive about ethanol production in 2016, publishing in its August short-term Energy Outlook that levels should remain steady for both 2015 and 2016 despite lower-than-expected blending mandates under the RFS through 2016. For 2015, production averaged around 960,000 barrels per day during Q1 and dropped to 950,000 barrels in Q2 with 940,000 barrels expected through the rest of the year. For 2016, production is expected to continue at around 940,000 barrels and then fall slightly to 930,000 barrels in Q4 2016.
