European T2 ethanol prices slump nearly 5% in a single day in unexpected market move

August 25, 2015 |

In the Netherlands, fears from others commodity markets have begun to impact ethanol prices, with T2 FOB Rotterdam prices sinking nearly 5% as buyers stay away from the market. At $636/cu m, ethanol is at a near-three month low while the slump was the largest daily fall seen since April. The market was surprised by the sudden drop in physical ethanol prices due to the fact that Europe remains short on ethanol supplies and producers have yet to ramp back up, nor have imports stepped in to fill enough of the gap to create such impacts on prices.
