Boise State off-road racing team aims to build biodiesel trophy truck for Baja 1000 race

In Idaho, the kids who built the world’s fastest vegetable oil powered vehicle through a student club at Boise State have launched Greenfield Research and with it a new ambition: a biodiesel trophy truck to win at the upcoming Baja 1000 off-road race, the top tier of off-road racing. The non-profit is raising funds to help complete the truck in time for the race, which could be a major game changer should the truck make it to the race. Because of V8 gas guzzling engines, trophy trucks typically get no more than 3 miles to the gallon but the biodiesel truck should get up to 9 miles to the gallon, putting them well ahead of their competitors.
