Kansas university training students about biodiesel and engine maintenance

September 16, 2015 |

In Kansas, Pittsburg State University is training automobile students about how biodiesel works, in anticipation of higher demand for the fuel when fossil fuel prices eventually rebound. In addition to learning how the fuel works, the students are also learning how biodiesel impacts engines and how to maintain those engines in light of the specific challenges biodiesel can pose such as clogging filters. With more farmers producing biodiesel for on-farm use and looking for more value added opportunities for their soy, demand is expected to grow for graduates who understand the nuances of biodiesel.
