Brazilian hydrous ethanol stocks down 10% on year as consumption soars

September 23, 2015 |

In Brazil, thanks to increased consumption of hydrous ethanol, stocks in the center south region were down 10% on the year at 3.78 billion liters at the end of August despite 15% more production at nearly 10.6 billion liters. UNICA says that April-August hydrous ethanol consumption was up 45% on the year at 7.7 billion liters. With the crush now having past its peak and rains during the first half of September, production is expected to slow and as a result prices are moving higher.
