Guatemala’s E5 pilot project results pave the way for E10 trial

September 24, 2015 |

In Guatemala, an E5 pilot project held between April 9 and July 16 has demonstrated 30% lower GHG emissions while even slightly increasing octane and maintaining fuel performance in gasoline engines. The trial, funded by the US, Brazil and the Organization of American States, used 24 cars and 5 motorcycles and was supported by laboratory testing to determine the results. Plans are under preparation for a new trial testing 10% ethanol but dates have not yet been released.
