High school student patents process for cellulosic ethanol production

In Illinois, a high school senior has developed and patented a method using bacteria to produce cellulosic ethanol. His tutor at Argonne National Laboratory says he has gone way above the others at high school level and even some in college, even teaching her about ways to commercialize research. Scaling up his research to commercial scale is his current obsession as a way to help his generation tackle climate change. Like most kids his age, he got into science because of Star Wars.
