Volvo Trucks continues commitment to HVO with Euro6 engines

October 6, 2015 |

In Sweden, Volvo Trucks is preparing to release its Euro6 engines to be viable with hydrotreated vegetable oil (HVO), just as its Euro5 engines are. The company says that HVO is similar enough to fossil diesel to use the same fueling infrastructure without causing challenges. It also has a significantly better environmental footprint than fossil diesel. With Neste’s NEXBTL taking the lead in HVO and other companies like Total coming up behind, Volvo believes the HVO bet is the best one in a post-biodiesel market.
