Absolut Distillers to invest $10.7 million in new ethanol plant in the Philippines

October 20, 2015 |

In the Philippines, Absolut Distillers will invest $10.7 million in a new ethanol distillery to supply the 10% ethanol blending mandate. The sugarcane mill will produce up to 2,000 metric tons of juice per day that will then be distilled. Plans are also underway to set up co-generation to supply power to the national grid. The company is still seeking the funding required for the project, which is expected to take two years to construct. Plans appear to be to buy sugarcane from outgrowers rather than develop its own plantation.
