Australia’s Bundaberg Port may undergo expansion partly to facilitate ethanol export

October 20, 2015 |

In Australia, plans are under consideration to expand the Bundaberg Port on the Fraser Coast partly to support the implementation of a potential ethanol facility co-located at Maryborough Sugar Factory that could benefit from easy access to export markets in Asia. The expansion could potentially increase trading capacity four-fold to 1 million metric tons of throughput annually from the current 264,000 tons that were exported last year. The facility currently exports raw sugar, molasses, wood pellets and silica sands but that grow to include biofuels as well as mineralsand other products.
