French oilseed and pulse association worried it’s losing policy ground on biofuels

October 22, 2015 |

In France, the national federation of oilseeds and pulses is concerned the policy switch to boost mandatory biodiesel blending to 7.7% in 2016 is at risk of being postponed. It is also concerned about future competition from the Total oil refinery in La Mede that will be converted into a biodiesel production facility that will use imported palm oil as feedstock rather than using domestic oilseeds. By postponing the law and supporting the Total revamp, the industry feels that the national government is failing to support its local agricultural economy.
