Ireland to import olive stones as feedstock for smokeless coal

October 22, 2015 |

In Ireland, the CPL Industries smokeless coal facility is set to expand in Foynes, County Limerick with the import of tens of thousands of tons of olive stones as feedstock. The announcement comes on the heels of the government announcing an end to smoky coal, setting the policy framework in place for the shift to smokeless coal. The company also plans to install pyralosis units to process MSW and other waste. In total, the two facilities will create about 200 jobs and require investment of about EUR35 million.
