Colombia’s October ethanol production up 32% on year as new plant comes online

October 27, 2015 |

In Colombia, ethanol production in October hit 1.65 million liters/day, up 32% on the year, thanks to the $250 million Rio Paila ethanol factory in the Cauca Valley coming online Oct. 1 with 400,000 bpd capacity. The boost in production capacity aligns with the new E10 policy in place in Valle de Cauca, Narino, Risaralda, Quindio, Caldas and Cauca provinces, up from the previous 8% blending mandate previously. The policy will extend nationwide next year when a new $350 million 450,000 bpd plant comes online in eastern Meta province.
