In Argentina, biodiesel production in 2015 is seen falling to 1.8 million metric tons, down 30% from last year’s 2.58 million tons. Domestic consumption is only seen rising 11% this year, far from compensating 55% fewer exports which has in turn weighed on the domestic industry’s capacity to produce more fuel that is only running at about 40% capacity. Elections later this month may lead to more domestic demand as two of the leading candidates are pro-business and could be encouraged to boost the blending mandate to 12% or 15% from the current 10%.
