September ethanol imports up 41% on the month with Brazil in the lead

November 6, 2015 |

In Washington, US Census data showed that ethanol imports jumped 41% in September over August at 44.4 million gallons. More than half of the imports were classified as fuel, 60% more than in August, with Brazil the main origin, again 60% more than in August. The weaker real against the dollar prompted the boost in imports from Brazil, a trend that is expected to last at least through October. Already two vessels have been booked for October delivery, to California and to Florida.
