Pertamina sees shift from diesel importer to exporter thanks to B20

November 10, 2015 |

In Indonesia, Pertamina expects the country won’t need to import fossil diesel between 2016 and 2018 thanks to the B20 biodiesel mandate set to come in next year. When the mandate is implemented, the company expects to have surplus diesel available for export, perhaps as much as 600,000 barrels per month, while the domestic market is satisfied with subsidized biodiesel. Even this year, the new subsidy system is expected to cut diesel demand by 14%.
