Ontario town to drop biodiesel in public transport for not providing expected benefits

In Canada, Sault Ste. Marie is preparing to phase out the use of biodiesel in its public transport buses because it isn’t getting the benefit it hoped for from the 2 cents per liter additional cost. At first 5% was blended but that later fell to 2%. The biodiesel isn’t sourced locally, but instead brought in from Michigan and blended locally. One of the city council members who had been a long time supporter of using biodiesel in the buses since the first successful trial in 2009 said he would see if something couldn’t be done to keep biodiesel and make it more beneficial.
