Indonesia’s B20 blend could boost biodiesel demand five-fold

November 23, 2015 |

In Indonesia, 2016 biodiesel consumption is seen hitting 7.9 million kiloliters if the government goes through with boosting the mandated blend to 20% from the current 15%, jumping more than five-fold from the 1.2 million kiloliters expected for 2015. Increasing biodiesel use is seen as a way to help compensate for extreme carbon emissions associated with forest burning that makes the country the fifth highest emitter in the world. Palm oil prices are hovering around six year lows.
