Malawi begins flex-fuel adaptor kit trials to boost ethanol consumption

December 3, 2015 |

In Malawi, 24 cars have been fitted with conversion kits to allow any mixture of ethanol and gasoline up to 100% of either as part of a demonstration project in hopes the government will allow E100 pumps across the country. Currently the country runs on an E20 blend though it has no formal blending mandate. Presscane is expanding its production next week to 90,000 liters per day from the current 60,000 liters per day. The country’s two ethanol plants say they could ramp up production for fuel ethanol should there be demand from the E100 pumps.
