BNSF says no environmental damage following November ethanol derailment

In Wisconsin, BNSF says that following hundreds of samples of water, sediment, mussels and fish immediately following a Nov. 7 derailment of more than two dozen cars carrying denatured alcohol that no adverse effects on the environment have been detected. The tests were carried out by BNSF, EPA and the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources. The cause of the derailment just outside of Alma that led to spilling the ethanol into the Mississippi River is still unknown.
