New South Wales port may become ethanol hub

December 23, 2015 |

In Australia, Port Kembla may become a major ethanol trading hub in New South Wales should a new plan for a new bulk liquids terminal in the harbor as proposed by TQ Holdings. The plan, replacing a previously developed plan for soybean crushing and biodiesel production whose planning permission expired earlier this year following little progress since approval in 2009, would include 23 tanks for storage and handling of petroleum and ethanol fuels. An environmental report for the project says the market potential isn’t strong for soybean so has been ruled out.
