Iowa sodium methylate plant to come online in February

December 24, 2015 |

In Iowa, New Heaven Chemicals is set to begin in February producing 24,000 metric tons of sodium methylate annually to support the biodiesel industry that uses the liquid chemical as a catalyst. The facility owned by India’s TSS says it can sell its entire production to the 15 biodiesel plants located within 100 miles. Demand is so strong that the company doubled the facility’s production facility in the middle of construction, which has been underway more than a year.
