In Colombia, Bio D has commissioned its $30 million 200,000 metric ton per year biodiesel facility near Facatativá that will use palm oil as feedstock. About 66,000 hectares of oil palm is required to feed the facility and is expected to create more than 30,000 direct and indirect jobs. The facility includes water recycling technology so that fresh water used is significantly reduced, lowering water consumption by 40%, the first in Latin America to do so.
