In Brazil, biodiesel production soared 85% in 2015 to more than 4 million cubic meters however that is still far below installed capacity of 7.3 million cubic meters. By the end of September, production capacity through the third quarter was already 19% higher than all of 2014. Production capacity has grown 103% since biodiesel blending mandates were first introduced in 2008. Ethanol production also increased last year but not so dramatically to 21.484 billion liters from last year’s 20.8 billion liters.
