Brazilian sugarcane crush going strong through December

January 12, 2016 |

In Brazil, sugarcane mills crushed 210% more cane during the last half of December than during the same period last year as mills tried to defy the typically wet weather the region is prone to during the season. It produced 27.17 billion liters of ethanol through December, compared to 25.91 billion liters last season last year. Of the country’s 360 mills, 56 are still operating through January compared to just 16 last year, but of those 34 will end their crush by the end of the month.
