EU-US arbitrage window remains unsteady but EN supplies unlikely in any case

January 19, 2016 |

In the Netherlands, the arbitrage window for Europe to import ethanol from the US has weakened again, thanks to a stronger dollar against the euro, but any time the euro strengthens the window opens again for spot deliveries. Anything further out still remains a challenge but some are taking the financial hit because they need prompt delivery of product. Little EN spec ethanol seems to be available in the US at the moment, with late February or early March likely the soonest possible, which works counter to the open arbitrage window for prompt delivery.
