European ethanol prices fall thanks to incoming fresh supplies

January 25, 2016 |

In the Netherlands, fresh ethanol supply has reached the European market at last, dragging T2 prices down to those not seen since August 2015. Imports from the US and Central America are expected to arrive during late January and early February, which mixed with decreased demand typical during the early part of the year have weighed on prices. Even if some supply is expected shortly, traders noted that finding cargos of 5,000 metric tons was still very difficult, and that those who are selling now may need to buy back shortly to cover their demand.
