Senate looking to approve energy reform bill by week’s end

February 1, 2016 |

In Washington, the Senate is looking to vote on the major energy policy reform bill by the end of the week, working through as many as 100 proposed amendments beforehand. Though some aren’t very controversial, others include eliminating the Renewable Fuel Standard and cutting fossil fuel subsidies. The bill garnered bipartisan support in the Energy and National Resources Committee with a 18-4 vote, something the bill’s managers are working hard to maintain and so therefore aren’t likely to allow controversial riders to the legislation.
