Argentine ethanol production and consumption soar to all-time highs in 2015

February 2, 2016 |

In Argentina, 2015 ethanol sales hit an all time high of 804 million liters, up 21% over 2014, while production topped 815 million liters, 23% more than the previous year. More than half of the fuel, 479 million liters, was produced from corn at four distilleries while the remainder came from sugarcane at nine distilleries. Production was up 29% and 12% respectively. Thanks to a new higher blending mandate of 12% that came into effect last month, estimates are that consumption in 2016 will reach 1 billion liters.
