Ethanol prices to rise ahead of Carnival

February 2, 2016 |

In Brazil, both hydrous and anhydrous ethanol prices are expected to strengthen ahead of the upcoming Carnival holiday that will see markets shut down for several days, requiring demand to be supplied ahead of time. The adage that hydrous ethanol parity with gasoline must remain below 70% remains an anomaly at the moment with prices nearing 75%. Anhydrous ethanol will be more supported by increased demand from the north northeast, with both fuels rounding at about $2 a gallon.
