EIA data shows ethanol stocks at near four-year highs

February 3, 2016 |

In Washington, the Energy Information Agency says that ethanol demand has slowed, leading to a near four-year high of ethanol stocks at 22.36 million barrels, up 4% over the previous week. Average ethanol production has fallen to 959,000 bpd, the lowest since November, which isn’t unexpected due to the recent East Coast storm. Crushing margins have started to improve which could encourage some producers to ramp up production again, likely by the end of the month.
