US ethanol production drops to 4-week low, below 15 billion gallon annual rate

In Washington, according to EIA data as analyzed by the Renewable Fuels Association, ethanol production averaged 959,000 barrels per day (b/d)—or 40.28 million gallons daily. That is down 2,000 b/d from the week before and the lowest in nine weeks. The four-week average for ethanol production stood at 976,000 b/d for an annualized rate of 14.96 billion gallons. Stocks of ethanol stood at 22.4 million barrels. That is a 4.3% increase from last week, and the highest level since March 2012. Imports of ethanol were nonexistent for the seventh straight week. Gasoline demand for the week averaged 350.3 million gallons (8.341 million barrels) daily. Refiner/blender input of ethanol averaged 815,000 b/d. Expressed as a percentage of daily gasoline demand, daily ethanol production was 11.50%.
