Australian university preparing to bring online UCO biodiesel plant this year

In Australia, CQ University is getting ready to bring online its UCO biodiesel plant that is has been developing over the past five years with an eye on commercial scale. Industry, including Caltex, has shown interest in the facility that could produce millions of liters per year, though its exact production capacity hasn’t yet been determined. Production costs are estimated at around 30 cents per liter. Caltex is currently testing the fuel in Melbourne and Brisbane in hopes of beginning to blend the fuel later this year.
