Two die and one burnt 80% of his body after explosion as Spanish biodiesel plant

February 8, 2016 |

In Spain, two workers have been killed while another suffered burns on 80% of his body following an explosion at the Biocom Energia UCOME biodiesel facility south of Valencia. Though the reason for the explosion is not yet known, it is thought to perhaps have been the result of soldering a storage silo that likely contained residual flammable gas after the liquid had been removed. The facility was commissioned in 2007 and has an installed production capacity of 110,000 metric tons annually.
