Pacific Ethanol to host water hyacinth biogas pilot project

In California, Pacific Ethanol is set to host a pilot project at its Stockton ethanol plant that would produce methane from water hyacinth that is clogging up the Sacramento River Delta in its biogas digester. The company is already building a commercial-scale digester to process some of its ethanol wastes, and project partners would work together to test the water hyacinth and other invasive weeds in the Delta at lab scale and then in a pilot facility located alongside.
