Blending demand helps to support prices

March 8, 2016 |

In the Netherlands, T2 ethanol demand may at last get some support from blenders as the premium over gasoline falls to a seven-month low at $237.64/mt on Friday. The premium reached at high of $392.87/mt on November 19, 2015 and stayed high through early 2016, eroding any potential blending demand but the fall in premium has driven fresh interest from the market. To shrink the premium, ethanol prices fell while gasoline demand increased to help close the price gap.
