South Korea invests $34 million in Laos ethanol facility

In Laos, South Korea’s TN Energy has invested $34 million in a cassava and sugarcane-based ethanol project that should produce 1.2 million liters per month once it is commissioned. The JV with state-owned Laos State Fuel is expected to produce 40% of its feedstock requirements while the remaining volume will come from outgrowers. The project scales up a pilot project in 2013 when TN Energy imported ethanol for blending.  Cars used during the blending trial were undamaged from using the fuel.
