Iowa ethanol plants likely to survive current crisis

In Iowa, ethanol plants are expected to weather the perfect storm of low oil prices and growing ethanol stocks that are weighing on prices and could force some facilities to cut production, mothball or merge. Strong margins during the past handful of years have helped plants to clean up their bottom lines, putting them in stronger positions to survive tough times, but Iowa ethanol plants are still expected to break even on margins compared to other regions.
