Indian River Bio Diesel looks to expand UCO biodiesel production to second facility

March 22, 2016 |

In Florida, Indian River Bio Diesel is seeking permission to produce 250,000 gallons of used cooking oil biodiesel per month in Fort Pierce. A hearing for the facility’s condition use permit is set for Monday. The plan is for UCO and biodiesel to be transported by truck, up to 85 per day, but the company hopes to have a nearby rail spur rehabilitated or use barge for shipping to reduce the traffic. No blending with fossil diesel will be done on site. Floridians are still nervous about biodiesel a year after the explosion at Viesel Fuel in Stewart.
