March palm oil production up 17% but still down 18% on year

April 12, 2016 |

In Malaysia, palm oil production rose 17% in March in line with expectations to 1.22 million metric tons as the season shifted to typically higher production volumes that will continue for the next few months. Despite the higher volumes compared to February, the volume is down more than 18% from the 1.5 million tons produced in March 2015. Exports have also risen, helping to keep stocks flat despite higher production, to 1.33 million tons in March. Exports to China nearly doubled while exports to India rose more than 83%.
